      This chapter explores the readmission of the Jews into England under Oliver Cromwell's rule. Why Jews would want to settle in London is obvious; the question is why the English actively solicited their return. When viewed from the perspective of Cromwell and his supporters, the chapter can see that economic matters initially played a very small part, despite the claims of most previous.
